Tenth Annual FreeMAT Toy Drive Collects Hundreds of Gifts for Children of U.S. Military

EVENT:
This holiday season FreeMAT (the Freedom Medical Aid Team) of
New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ) gathered hundreds of holiday toys to
distribute to children of deployed military personnel.
Representatives from the U.S. Army will visit NYHQ to receive the toys in a presentation from NYHQ President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen S. Mills, NYC Comptroller John Liu and other elected officials.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: The presentation will conclude with a photo opportunity of U.S. Army representatives, NYHQ administration and elected officials loading toys into a NYHQ ambulance for delivery.

WHO:
Since 2002, FreeMAT has been actively involved in collecting
toy donations for the children of deployed U. S. Armed Forces personnel
stationed at Fort Totten in Queens and other local reserve bases in the
region. The toys will be distributed to children at several holiday
parties in December.
This year, FreeMAT partnered with New York City Comptroller John Liu,
local schools, Community Bd. #7, Senators Toby Stavisky and Tony Avella,
Congresswoman-elect Grace Meng, Assembly Members Rory Lancman and Edward
Braunstein, Council Members Peter Koo and Dan Halloran, and the
Bayside-Whitestone Lions Club to gather donations.
