New York Hospital Queens Announces Critical Need for Type O-Negative Blood

Flushing, N.Y., July 3, 2013 — New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ) announced today that there is a low level of Type O-Negative blood available. The Blood Donor Center at NYHQ is urging community members with Type O-Negative blood to donate as soon as possible. Type O-Negative blood is not a common blood type, but it is frequently used as Type O-Negative blood cells can be given to patients with any blood type.

The blood donation process only takes about 30 minutes and one donation can benefit several individuals. To donate, visit the Blood Donor Center at NYHQ (56-45 Main Street, Flushing, N.Y.) during the following hours: Monday, Thursday, Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Tuesday & Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The last donor is registered one hour prior to closing.
