Cosmos, New York Hospital Queens Create Dynamic Partnership for
NYHQ named Official Hospital of New York’s soccer team
NEW YORK, July 30, 2013 – The New York Cosmos announced today that New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ) will be the team’s official hospital. NYHQ becomes an Official Club Partner of the revived Cosmos club that begins play Aug. 3 in the North American Soccer League.
“I’d like to officially welcome New York Hospital Queens to the Cosmos family,” Cosmos Chief Operating Officer Erik Stover said. “NYHQ shares our values and believes in soccer in New York as much as we do, so we are looking forward to a long, successful relationship together.”
As part of this exclusive partnership, NYHQ will serve as the team’s Official Medical and Orthopedic Consultants, providing complete medical care to Cosmos players during games and practices. They will also team up with the Cosmos on a variety of initiatives including youth health and wellness clinics in the Queens community and blood drives during select Cosmos home games.
“Keeping athletes healthy and performing – whether they are professional or weekend warriors – is a priority for our team at the Bone and Joint Hospital of Queens, right here at New York Hospital Queens,” said Jeffrey Rosen, chairman of orthopaedics and rehabilitation. “This partnership with the Cosmos will go a long way to raising more awareness for bone and joint health among the young people and adults in our community.”
The partnership between the Cosmos and NYHQ also includes marketing elements such as a branded presence at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium, where the Cosmos will play home games this season, and at Mitchel Field, the team’s official practice facility.
The Cosmos make their debut in the NASL’s Fall Championship, which begins Aug. 3 and concludes Nov. 9. The full schedule for the fall Championship can be found at www.nycosmos.com/schedule.
