New York Hospital Queens Expands Access to Primary Care and
Physician Practices Join NYHQ, Specialists Added to Growing Practices
Flushing, N.Y., January 27, 2014 – As part of a growth plan to expand access to primary and specialty care services throughout the Queens community, New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ) has acquired two physician practices, Bayside Primary Care (formerly known as Barra, Coman, Rawlings) and Queens Diabetes and Endocrinology. Additionally, another 10 specialist physicians are now seeing patients in the hospital’s growing Whitestone Primary Care and Maspeth Multispecialty Care practices.
Bayside Primary Care has primary care physicians and a cardiologist who focus on promoting lifestyle changes to improve an individual’s physical health and overall well-being. Queens Diabetes and Endocrinology provides care for people with diabetes (an ongoing epidemic in Queens), as well as other complex endocrine conditions. This practice is involved in national clinical research studies, and its founder, Daniel Lorber, M.D., is associate director, Theresa and Eugene M. Lang Center for Research and Education, and director, Division of Endocrinology, NYHQ.
“NYHQ is committed to expanding access to primary care and providing easier access to specialty services. We are proud to bring these physicians on board to help protect and promote the health of our community,” said Stephen S. Mills, president and chief executive officer, NYHQ. “The hospital, through our physician group, New York Queens Medicine & Surgery, P.C., continues to acquire and build additional practices throughout the borough.”
At Whitestone Primary Care and Maspeth Multispecialty Care, members of the community can continue to find more physicians and services near where they live and work. Whitestone Primary Care doubled its medical staff in 2013 and now offers primary care, cardiology, sports medicine/orthopaedic, and urology services. Maspeth Multispecialty Care now offers in-community access to cardiology, vascular surgery, sports medicine/orthopaedic, urology, and pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition services.
These practices are members of the New York Hospital Queens physician group, New York Queens Medicine & Surgery, P.C. Members of the community who are interested in more information can visit http://www.nyhq.org/Primary-Care-and-Multispecialty-Practices.
